Vermont Organic Farmstead

Huntington, Vermont    |    2004

Vermont Organic Farmstead is a forward-thinking prototype of sustainable agricultural production and residential living. The 1300-acre site, located atop one of the higher and more remote ridgelines of the Green Mountains, was surveyed and analyzed to best utilize the existing ecosystem and microclimate conditions. Landscape and architecture were developed to create the optimal integration of food and energy production to support existing habitats and achieve long-term self-sustainability goals. The architecture is constructed primarily with site sourced, salvaged, or reused materials that minimize embodied energy and construction waste.
